Hi everyone, HAAG’s federal election toolkit is online: https://www.oldertenants.org.au/news/federal-election-advocacy-toolkit

It includes a template letter requesting a meeting with your local federal representative, guide to help prepare for the meeting and HAAG’s policy recommendations.

Please do contact your local representatives and ask for action to address older women’s homelessness.  The federal election provides a great opportunity for constituents to demand action.

    HI Reuben,

I don’t think there is the option to insert docs or links within the group discussion.  Could this be added?  Or did I miss something?  Thanks, Kobi

In addition to submissions on the 10 year Social and Affordable Housing Strategy, the Vic government is now seeking input on Social Housing Regulation.  There will be a round of consultations.  More info can be found here: Social Housing Regulation Review | Engage Victoria

HAAG will be preparing a submission so please let us know if you have any thoughts.

Thanks Reuben.  I also received some feedback from Frances via messages.  Passing the tech questions on:  “I noticed you can only add one URL per post , or is it me ? I,m a bit of an old luddite.. not really an issue I guess as its not hard to do separate posts. I did also want to attach a PdF document for which I couldn’t find the URL but couldn’t find a way to do this.”

Hey Reuben,  Possible to include “Forums” at the top of the site, alongside Groups, Our Community etc.?  Also wondering about the “Our Community” posts and whether we try to shift personal comments to the NASH private forum?  Or just let it go and advise the group that we’re going to expand the trial and therefore they should remove anything they don’t want others to view.  Thanks, Kobi

Interesting that at the ACOSS post-budget event last week Minister Sukkar spontaneously brought up older women’s housing during the Q&A (he was asked about housing for single mothers, and he then talked about older women as another potentially vulnerable group). There’s now a recording available if you want to see it – it’s right at the end of his section at about 45 mins in: ACOSS Post Budget Event Webinar Recording – click here to watch

I was very interested to hear about QShelter’s work in this space.

Here is a link to Q Shelter’s suite of tools and resources related to DFV, including the intersections of community/social housing and private rental tenancies.

Anyone has any contact with Jane Hume?  Federal Minister for Women’s Economic Security?

No Tassie members of NASH.  We have relationships with people in community/homelessness sector in Tasmania.  There are lots of people in NSW and Vic signed onto NASH and fewer in WA, Queensland and only 2 in SA.

Anyone had any contact with Jacqui Lambie?  Is she a good advocate for older people’s homelessness?
