It sounds absolutely harrowing. Almost like living like a peasant in the middle ages. Its great you’ve posted about your experiences here so others can hear what it is like for you.

Also I hope you’ve been able to get some practical advice or support from HAAG’s Retirement Housing Advice service? You can get in touch with them directly by calling (03)9654 7389 https://www.oldertenants.org.au/retirement-housing

Sorry I didn’t respond to this – is it working for you now? I just tested it with my facebook account and its working for me, but these things can be mysterious…

Well said! We can all breath a sigh of relief that the Morrison government has finally met its demise 😮‍💨  Turns out if you care for no-one but yourselves then eventually no-one will care for you.

Great work everyone in NASH, HOW and HAAG, meeting politicians, spreading the word online, sharing their stories and incredible powerful videos.

I think you’re right that the voters sent a very strong message to Labor not to keep ignoring affordable housing, we’re getting somewhere so lets not stop now!

Yes we can only hope for a similar landslide across the country… But perhaps they will announce big budget spending just before they announce the election. Perhaps any announcements on housing will have to be outdone by Labor and the Greens… We may even have a competition of who can make the best promises on housing 🤞

And they still haven’t even called an election!

Great to hear you’re out lobbying your local politicians @Wendy. Let us know how it goes! Was this ‘toolkit‘ useful? Do you think Ken Wyatt would be interested to meet as well? He used to be the Minister for Senior Australians. Hope you ‘have luck’ 😉

Great idea, we could make an ‘invite tile’, what should it say?

We can also invite people by email – by going to your ‘profile’ in the top menu, then clicking ‘send invites’.

Great to see some news coming on the back of the At Risk forum.

But as Penny Leimhuis says “There is a lot of talk, and no actual action”

Hi, I’m really sorry to everyone who had trouble accessing the Zoom meeting on Friday. All the videos are now online here, if you weren’t able to make it I hope you can catch up and keep the conversation going on this forum.

Thanks Karen. I really like this idea, I love living in sharehouses myself, and without the precarity of renting, hope I still can when I’m older. I suppose this Homeshare model would usually involve an older homeowner sharing with a younger renter? Definitely seems like it could be a win-win for many people. But if the roles reversed and older person wasn’t the home owner, I don’t imagine it would provide much security for them? Or maybe this is just a misconception?

Thats really disturbing, so it looks like people being physically evicted with all their things thrown on the side of the road? Did you know where it was said that they are ‘criminal activities’?

Wrap a ring of steel around renters? Such a weird metaphor.

Hi again @dini after the convo this morning I’ve found really great software thats allowed us to do all the things:

A calendar of events – anyone can add an event to be moderated, but if you’re a member of a group, you can add an event just for that group. The calendar is here

Document Sharing and Editing documents can also be added in the groups. Or they can be set to public. Text documents can be edited by group members with a revision history. (no comments though). To use these features in the NSW forum co-ordinators group go here.

Basically, all the functionality is there and it works… Its just going to take me a little while longer to add styles so it displays nicely, and with less clutter. However, minus the currently ugly appearance and clutter, can you please test out the things? Add some public and private events, add some public and private documents, make sure it functions as you want it to?

I’ll work tomorrow to do the social things but please send me them to thanks 🤟

This is great, now events are all on Zoom, I guess we can go to all of them!

Would be good to get tips on how to run the forums and hopefully they even have some ideas about how to engage the audience?
