I reckon they would be reeling from the SA election results ….. so playing for more time to brainwash the public!

I am about to meet with the Labor candidate for my Federal Electorate of Hasluck (held by Ken Wyatt). I will remind her of the statistics say I have read their Housing Futures policy. I will say I expect building to start immediately they are in government!

My story:

After taking time out of the paid workforce to raise 4 children, I left a dysfunctional marriage and the family home in a small country town 25 years ago.
I left without any household goods or a car.
After a property settlement I was able to by a car and some household…[Read more]

Have you had any success Marie? Is there an “invitation” tab somewhere here? I am connected to Shelter WA on LinkedIn and other groups that I’d like to invite to House on Fire and our Facebook page.

Looking forward to doing some story telling workshops through HAAG and also locally in WA through and collaboration between the Town of Victoria Park and the Centre for Stories. This collaboration is focussing on stories of homelessness and at risk. Should be very productive!

Fantastic new Marie! I know how you feel, having helped a woman who was living in a room with no fridge for 4 years. She is now in State Housing and calls her home, her “castle”!

Sounds like a perfect set up. Friends of mine have a second house on their large semi rural property which is suitable for that type of shared living.
There are building companies that modify homes for this type of living. There should be more of it!Wendy replied to the topic Local-scale solutions in the forum π‘ Housing Solutions 1 year, 9 months ago
Thank you Kate! What an effort that must have been. Do you know if any of your suggestions have been followed up? If not….. any thoughts on how to do this?
Direst action is what we need isn’t it!!
in WA there is a project called “My Home”, initiated by architect Michelle Blakeley, which utilises this type of land. Here is the link….Wendy replied to the topic Local-scale solutions in the forum π‘ Housing Solutions 1 year, 9 months ago
I just signed the petition Reuben. I really despair that a Labor Government would sell off public housing. It is happening here in WA also I believe. I will try and get some details.

Anyone know how we can get info about “lazy government (state) land”? It could be leased at a “peppercorn” rate…..and suitable small flat pack houses constructed in village style. This is being done already in WA

Thanks for your report Frances. You have a gift for getting to the nub of the issue with evidence and stats. I hadn’t heard the term “slum land lord” before!
