On Tuesday 19th July I appeared before the Inquiry here in Parramatta. I was honoured to be asked to give evidence but it was quite intense but the Secretariat & Committee made it an easy process. I asked for 3 things:
1 Change the age of Priority Senior Housing in NSW from 80 plus to over 55 plus
2 Building purpose built Senior Housing w…[Read more]
The time is fast approaching for this Inquiry to get under way and I have put in a Submission.
Dini, Greta & I have really tried to highlight this Inquiry and it will be a very interesting time as facts come to light. This Inquiry was instigated by the NSW Greens and I am very impressed with the way that they fought for this. In 2014 I was on a…[Read more]
Well at last “Its Over” and what a great day this is for Australia & the people have spoken.
Labor have won but the amount of Greens & Ind should tell them that things have to change urgently and that people will not follow blindly along. Transparency & integrity is the order of the day and I hope that people also realize that they have the…[Read more]
Greta & I are going to attend another Meeting with UNSW with Architecture Students about future building and how they are designed. There are so many ideas eg air con, flooring, layout and its nice that we Seniors have an imput. The design of new homes is so important.
We need to keep more Seniors at home instead of going into Nursing Homes and I…[Read more]
Things are heating up in the Electorate of Bennelong even before the Election is announced, the Liberal Candidate is Simon Kennedy and very few people in this area have heard of him but I am going to try to contact him. The Labor Candidate Jerome Laxale has been everywhere and I have filmed an Endorsement Video for him (as a local who knows how…[Read more]
I have emailed Anthony Albanese this morning about Senior Housing and I received a Generic answer that I may or may not hear back:
I was referred to Labor Party Landmark Statements and I will quote a small part
“We need more affordable social housing. Not least for older women, who are more at risk of homelessness – many for the first time in…[Read more]
Here is a repeat performance by the NSW State Govt selling off Public Housing and replacing it with very little housing.
The New South Wales government’s $1 billion plan to sell the Waterloo Estate public housing land in central Sydney will deliver fewer than 100 a…[Read more]
Its all happening in Bennelong! At last we have a Candidate and its my good friend Jerome Laxale, must say Im very happy as Jerome was the first one to step up to fight for the people at Ivanhoe when we were being “sold off” and stood beside us all the way. He is a Ryde Clr and past Mayor of Ryde, he is a local and has done some amazing things in…[Read more]
A lot of people had trouble getting in to the National Housing Conference 2022 online, I had problems but eventually figured it out after AHURI sent me a personal code. It was an interesting 3 days with lots of information, Jane Caro was outstanding! I have managed to get a lot of the Session Recordings on to the NASH Facebook Page so that…[Read more]
Still no Candidates in Bennelong! SA was a great win but we cannot take anything for granted in the Federal Election, the LIBS are out there with as much poison as usual and plenty of cash to throw around, hopefully people will remember and choose wisely but I also hope that if Labor take power they will follow through, Im relying on a good push…[Read more]
In the last week I have attended the National Housing Conference (Virtually) our CHP Tenant Advisory Group, OWN Forum, Labor Party Meeting & last night a Forum with Architecture Students
UNSW students who are studying a Masters degree within the Build Environment Faculty and enrolled in the “SUSD0001: Sustainable Development & Urban E…[Read more]
I managed to attend a couple of days virtually and found lots of interesting stuff. Some of it went over my head (I am not well educated) but all in all I really enjoyed it. I was fascinated by the overseas people explaining how they do things in their Countries, Japan, Holland, Austria (Vienna) & USA – I honestly felt like moving to Vienna to be…[Read more]
I am at at the National Housing Conference (virtually) and learning quite a lot! This Federal Election (to come) is an odd one for sure with no Election date as yet. Still NO Candidates in my Seat of Bennelong as yet so its like “dancing with shadows”)I am trying to multitask as we in Sydney are also experiencing extreme weather with water…[Read more]
Yesterday 18/02/22 my Brother in Law passed away aged 65. He had been very ill with lung issues & spinal problems for a few years and lived in a little cabin in a Caravan Park on the Central Coast. I had been battling with PH as he had been on the List for many years and living in this hot/cold place with no phone signal was basically leaving him…[Read more]
I cannot link through my Facebook again (it could be a Facebook thing) so I have to sign in with Google which requires getting an sms with a code. This happened before then was ok. Let me know if you can work this out Reuben 🙂
During the Pandemic things have been a little out of control with CHPs and their Staff working from home. Maintenance is still on hold and Staff seem to be disinterested in Tenants trying to get things fixed. In NSW I thought that people were back to work to “let it rip” so its interesting that this Staff are keeping safe whilst sending some…[Read more]
Ok so here we are in February and we in Bennelong still do NOT have either a Liberal or Labor Candidate (or Greens) I find this totally annoying, Bennelong is notoriously Liberal so maybe the Libs feel that whoever they run will win and I do remember years ago when Maxine McKew (Lab) took on John Howard and won the Seat! I am watching this with…[Read more]
