Hi Kobi – I hadn’t added an upload documents link.
I’m a little bit cautious to add too many buttons, also a little bit cautious about spammers/viruses.
So let’s try out this compromise – forum moderators now get this add media link above the comment box. People who aren’t moderators only get the little image icon on the right which only allows…[Read more]
Hi Frances, what areas are you concerned about? In regards to confidentiality, we should be aware on this site that some areas are private – like the NASH group page, but all of the forums and comments otherwise are publicly visible on the internet. If we want to though, we can make other private areas of the website.
Oh hi David @sunshine! Thanks for joining up on the forum. I’ve really appreciated your insightful comments and ‘Letter to the Editor’ so I’m very pleased to see you’ve joined up on this forum and look forward to your contributions.
@loisknight *I think* cohousing is supposed to be housing that shares some resources, like living, laundry, kitchen or garden spaces. That would usually make the housing costs more affordable. And they might also share other things like occassional meals and social support.
Here is an example in Melbourne that seems interesting. It seems like a…[Read more]
I helped my neighbour move out from a domestic violence situation on the weekend. Its SO HARD to make the move from one rental to another. You have to pack up, clean, find another place, pay bond and rent, pay transport to move your stuff, buy new things, find new housemates. But to do all that while moving stuff out and having an ex-partner…[Read more]
ITS ALIVE !!! 🧟🧟🧟
This site has now moved to its forever home at houseonfire.oldertenants.org.au
I think everything should work even faster here.
Let me know if there are still any issues,
but feel free to share and get it out there!
Sounds like good news. By the way here is Dini’s media release about the NSW budget, I hope you like my meme?
I also wanted to thank @mariechase-sillars here for helping me fix an issue with the Facebook login 🙏. Hopefully its working smoothly now?
So I also added this thing so you can write @someonesname eg @kobi-maglenoldertenants-org-au and it will automatically link to their username, kinda like it does on twitter.
Hi Kobi! Great idea. I’ve added that link to the header menu. And you’ll see down the bottom now we also have links to ‘Our Community’ and recent replies.
Yes that’s a good idea, I’ve moved the ‘personal’ updates we had made so far into the NASH group.
But you’ll see…[Read more]
The so called ‘invisible homeless’ – often older people who are couch surfing, living in cars, staying in unsafe accomodation – are no longer so invisible. After years of campaigning and pressure on politicians, we are making headlines around the country.
Lets make this a place to share and discuss news stories that focus on older peoples…[Read more]

Who are the politicians that are working on this issue? Lets share links to what they are doing and talk about how to bring them all together.
The Victorian Government has committed 5.3 billion dollars to a so called ‘Big Housing Build’. Its a really welcome investment, however all of the money is going towards ‘affordable’ housing through inclusionary zoning, and to Community Housing.
We’ve heard a lot about the potential for ‘Tiny Houses’. A more affordable style of living that could allow people without the money for a permanent, large house, to build a smaller place and park it on someones land. But there’s a lot to organise – building a house, making it portable, equipping it with electricity, water, and a toilet. Not to…[Read more]
Co-housing sounds so cool. My aunty in Israel really loves living there and being around other people of all ages. But in Australia it seems really uncommon. Its hard to find out more about where you can live in cohousing in Australia? Every time I hear about it, its either a vague future plan, or it really costs just as much as a house.
Forums are for chatting, right? But we need more than just chatter, more talking, and endless reports. We are here to be taking action.
Its hard to know what to do sometimes though. Start a petition? March on parliament? Write a submission?
Or do we have other ideas? If you get an idea, no matter how crazy it sounds, write it down here and lets…[Read more]
Hey everyone welcome to this new website forum. I really hope you like it?
We’ve put a bunch of work into making it easy to use and looking nice. What do you think about the design?
But there are definitely some things we can improve on to make it work better. We want to add more categories so we can sort things by regions, issues, and other…[Read more]
